Reimagine Commerce Street Corridor Study
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Harris County Precinct 2, in partnership with the Harrisburg Redevelopment Authority (TIRZ 23) and the East Downtown Redevelopment Authority (TIRZ 15) is Reimagining Commerce Street to improve mobility, prioritize safety improvements, and integrate community input into the design alternatives.
WHAT IS THIS PROJECT
The Commerce Street Project is a 1.2-mile improvement initiative between I-69 and Drennan Street to create an inclusive, resilient, and safe corridor for all users, including vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists.
WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
The project will develop engineering solutions to addresses current traffic safety concerns with improvements to provide spaces for all road users to create a safer and more efficient corridor.

Phase 3. Begin to Reimagine the Corridor (Summer 2025)
Develop alternatives based on input from the community

Phase 4. Refine selected alternative (Fall 2025)
Refine design concept based on community priorities and input
Phase 5. Finalize Project (Winter 2025)
Select final design concept and prepare for detailed design, funding opportunities, and construction.
